Ryan Seacrest might be moving to an earlier shift on a new network.The host and producer reportedly had meetings with NBC executives earlier this week to discuss the possibility of joining "The Today Show" and replacing co-host Matt Lauer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The trade paper reports that the meetings are part of continuing discussions with NBC about joining the show, although the NBC and Seacrest have not commented on the reports.
NBC is part of NBCUniversal owned by Comcast, which also owns the E! Network, where Seacrest serves as a news host and red carpet correspondent. His production company also produces the network's "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and its spin-offs.
In addition to his duties over on E!, Seacrest has also been hosting "American Idol" since its debut in 2002 and has his own morning radio show.
Lauer has been a co-host of "The Today Show" since 1997 and his contract with the program ends in 2012, according to the industry paper. Earlier this year Meredith Viera left the program and Ann Curry took over in June.
In April, Seacrest was ranked No. 1 on the Reality Power List and he is set to appear in the upcoming film "New Year's Eve" which debuts on December 9.
