Meredith Vieira May Leave NBC's Today Show
Could Meredith Vieira be moving on? TV Guide reports the 57-year-old Today cohost will walk away from the NBC morning show when her contract expires in September. Having reportedly had discussions to extend her deal, Vieira is said to have grown tired of the show's demanding early morning production schedule. VIDEO: The week's top news headlines News of Vieira's possible exit comes just days after reports surfaced that TV's highest-paid network anchor, Katie Couric, could be calling it quits with the CBS Evening News. "NBC is doing everything they can to convince [Meredith] to stay," a source familiar with Vieira's contract discussions tells TV Guide. NBC, for the record, remained tight-lipped, saying only: "The Today show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place." VIDEO: Spring TV news and previews Couric's successor on the morning news show joined Today in 2006 after cohosting The View, and helped the NBC news broadcast reach No. 1 in the morning ratings in the time since Couric's departure. While no official announcement has been made regarding her future plans, Vieira has said that she would welcome the chance to spend more time with her three children and her husband, TV news producer Richard Cohen. "If I were to leave at the end of next year because it's time for me, I wouldn't jump into another show.
