Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcome healthy twins

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed their twin son and daughter on Saturday, which is also the couple's four-year wedding anniversary, the singer's husband confirmed on Twitter.

"My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!" Cannon wrote on Twitter. "I won't ever be able to top this!"

Their baby girl was born first at 12:07 p.m. ET and weighed 5 pounds, 3 ounces and was 18 inches tall. Her brother arrived shortly after and weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches tall. Carey's representative, Cindi Berger, said that the couple has not yet named the twins, The Associated Press reports.

Cannon, a 30-year-old radio and television host, drove the singer to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom and was reportedly so nervous, that he went to the wrong department of the hospital. Carey, 41, was calm since she thought the labor was another false alarm after having contractions on March 27. "It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," said Berger.

The couple plans to renew their wedding vows on Sunday. Carey's rep said that they were listening to Carey's "We Belong Together" after the children were born. The twins are couple's first children together and Carey recently declared that she doesn't intend to have more.

On Easter, Carey posted a photo of what appeared to be her belly, which sported a colorful, painted picture of a butterfly, one of her favorite symbols and the name of her sixth studio album, which came out in 1997. The words "Dem Babies" were painted above it.

"My attempt @ festiveness on 327!" Carey, 41, Tweeted on Monday, March 28. "For ATLITL thank u + I?U! Comin soon #dembabies! LYMA+thanx 4 making me happy:)."

"ATLITL" stands for ""All the lambs in the land" and "LYMA" is short for ""Love ya much always." Carey often uses such expressions in online messages to her fans.

Carey and Cannon celebrated with a lavish baby shower in Beverly Hills earlier this month.
