Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have revealed the names of their newborn twin son and daughter - Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon.
The babies were born on their parents' third anniversary on Saturday, April 30 in Los Angeles. A day later, Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, renewed their marriage vows in a ceremony Rev. Al Sharpton carried out in the hospital.
The names of the twins were revealed on Carey's website on Wednesday, May 4 in a post originally published on CNN Online.
Monroe Cannon, who was born before her twin brother, was named after late Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, "who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life," the post said. The couple's daughter did not receive a middle name because Carey does not have one.
Scott is Cannon's middle name and is also his grandmother's maiden name, it added. The couple chose "Moroccan" because Cannon had proposed to Carey in a room inside her New York apartment that is dubbed the "Moroccan Room" due to its Moroccan-inspired decor.
When Carey went into labor, Cannon, a radio and television host, drove the singer to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom and was reportedly so nervous, that he went to the wrong department of the hospital. Carey was calm since she thought the labor was another false alarm after having contractions on March 27.
