Nick Canon is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most hugs in an hour at Mets Plaza on Friday, August 19.
The "Rollin with Nick Cannon Morning Show" radio host hopes to give 1,800 hugs and said "I am going to make HISTORY!" on his official website.
Fans who hug Mariah Carey's husband will receive commemorative Nick Cannon Mets T-shirts and the first 100 huggers will also get tickets to the game if they show up at 4:30 p.m. at Mets Plaza next to Mets Home Run Apple at Citi Field.
Electronic game company Paper Jamz from WowWee will also donate a toy for every hug to benefit children at the Mets Care Room at the New York Hospital in Queens.
The current record holder is Nick Vujicic, who doled out 1,749 hugs at Oregon's Deschutes County Expo Center on September 25, 2010.
Canon recently welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe and were involved in another Guinness-related situation. The Grammy-winning singer was visited by a social worker amid suspicions she may have abused her newborn twins by consuming alcohol and drugs while breastfeeding.
"Recently I guess there was this big, child protective services were called with allegations that there was some drinking and drugs and all that going on while in the hospital, which again makes no sense to me," Cannon, 30, told Piers Morgan on his CNN talk show.
CNN quoted Cannon as saying that Carey consumed a small amount of Guinness, an Irish beer, following a suggestion by a nurse.
"It all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, a small amount of Guinness, the dark beer, that the ... yeast improves breastfeeding," he told CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview airing on Thursday. "I guess someone maybe overheard that ... and this is a good way to make a quick buck, or call the tabloids. It's kind of sad that people think that we'll make money off of these newborns."
Old wives' tales say dark beer may increase milk production but there are no medical studies that prove it. A 2000 Munich University study also found that consuming the occasional alcoholic drink while breastfeeding had no adverse effects.
