Jamie Foxx has joined the list of musicians set to perform at the upcoming Michael Jackson tribute concert to be held on October 8 in Wales.Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Leona Lewis, Smokey Robinson and Ne-Yo are already confirmed to perform at the Millennium Stadium, which has a capacity of 75,000, while Beyonce will appear via satellite.
Proceeds from the event will go to AIDS Project Los Angeles and the UK children's charity, The Prince's Trust. "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" has already raised controversy, given that the legend's former doctor Conrad Murray is currently awaiting trial for involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death. Autopsy results have shown that Jackson, the King of Pop, died at age 50 at his Los Angeles on June 25, 2009 from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives.
Songs performed in the tribute will come from either The Jackson 5, The Jacksons era or Jackson's solo career, according to Billboard magazine.
Foxx earned an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award for his work in the 2004 film, "Ray." He has also earned a Grammy Award and produced four albums.
He released his latest album, "Best Night of My Life," in December 2010 and collaborated with Justin Timberlake and rappers Ludacris, Drake, Souja Boy and T.I.
The 43-year-old actor rose to fame on the comedy sketch series "In Living Color" during the 90s. From 1996 until 2001, he stared in the sitcom "The Jamie Foxx Show."
The actor has also appeared in films like "Collateral," "Law Abiding Citizen," "Valentine's Day," "Dreamgirls," "The Soloist" and "Horrible Bosses."
It was announced recently that Foxx has partnered with the BET network to revive "Showtime at the Apollo," a performance series which aired for 21 years before being cancelled in 2008.
Tickets for the October tribute concert went on Sale last month. The concert is also slated to be broadcast globally.
