Eminem and 'Random Acts of Violence'

Eminem is getting ready to make a comeback on the big screen. The rapper is set to star in the upcoming crime thriller "Random Acts of Violence."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project, which has been in development for four years, centers on a just-out-of-prison ex-con who struggles to stay on the right side of the law while being pressured by the shady people from his past. Meanwhile, the FBI is attempting to recruit him to help bring down the bad guys.

Besides "Random Acts of Violence," Eminem—whose last movie was 2002's "8 Mile"—is also set to headline the boxing drama "Southpaw."

Deadline.com reports that the film will feature the 38-year-old star as a welterweight boxer who struggles to fight his way back to the top after a tragedy.

"He is very interested in the boxing genre, and it seemed like an apt metaphor, because his own life has been a brawl," says the film's screenwriter, Kurt Sutter. "In a way, this is a continuation of the '8 Mile' story, but rather than a literal biography, we are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life."
