Kenneth Cole in-'vests' in Sundance

One of the hot apparel items at Sundance is sleeveless, (down) feather-light and comes courtesy of designer Kenneth Cole.

The retail magnate created a special down vest for festival volunteers, a hardy band who endure cold temperatures, long hours and the occasional obnoxious star, publicist or (heaven forbid) media person.

All 1,600 volunteers got a free vest in recognition of their efforts, and some celebrities did too– we noticed them on the shoulders of Susan Sarandon, Paul Giamatti, Rosie O'Donnell, Ed Helms and Danny Glover, to name a few. They're not exactly Sundance volunteers, but they did volunteer to be warmed by Cole's vest.

If you want to get hold of a vest yourself, limited quantities are available at the online festival store at Sundance.org and "for a select time" at Kenneth Cole stores around the country. We're told (via press release) that a "percentage of net profits from the sale" of the vests will be donated to the Sundance Institute.

It's no coincidence Kenneth Cole provided the garments. He's served on the Sundance Institute board since 2003 and is a pal of Sundance founder Robert Redford.
