Halle Berry was recently named as a contender for playing the lead in the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic -- by the singer herself. But that doesn't mean Berry is interested.
Speaking With E! News on the Golden Globes red carpet, Berry dismissed rumors, citing her inability to sing as too big of an obstacle in undertaking the role.
"If I could carry a tune, I'd consider it," she says. "Someone should tell Aretha that I can't do her justice."
Franklin doesn't seem to care. During a recent call into the "Wendy Williams Show," the non-pancreatic-cancer-having icon opened up about making the film a reality.
"For the last four years, we've been talking about (the film), and I have had a number of offers," she says. "Unfortunately, they were not good offers. Now, we have something on the table. They have all of the financing on one project... (and are) in the process of writing things for me to approve... Halle Berry is my pick."
Well, she could always lip-sync.
