Posthumous Amy Winehouse album to be released

A new album containing previously unheard material by soul singer Amy Winehouse is to be released just months after her death from alcohol poisoning, her record label confirmed Monday.

"Lioness: Hidden Treasures", features unreleased tracks, alternate versions of existing classics as well as a couple of brand new compositions by the songstress, an Island Records statement said.

It will hit stores on December 5.

The album "proves a fitting tribute to the artist, the talent and the woman and serves as a reminder of Amy?s extraordinary powers as a songwriter, a singer and an interpreter of classics," the statement said.

The Sun newspaper reported that it includes a track recorded by the "Rehab" singer while she was on heroin, as well as a song documenting her turbulent relationship with her ex-husband.

The tabloid said £1 (1.14 euros, $1.60) from every copy of the posthumous album sold will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which supports vulnerable young people in Britain and abroad.

Winehouse, 27, was found dead at her north London home on July 23 after a long struggle with drink and drugs.

An inquest into her death revealed last week that the troubled singer had suddenly drunk heavily after abstaining for three weeks and was poisoned by alcohol.

She was more than five times over the British drink-drive limit when she died, the inquest heard.

Island Records, which released her debut album "Frank" and 2006's Grammy-award winning album "Back to Black", said the album will be produced by close friends and collaborators Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi.

It was created in association with Winehouse's family and management, the label said.

Winehouse's father, Mitch, told the The Sun that the album lived up to her standards.

"Had the family felt this album wasn't up to the standard of Amy's others, we'd never have agreed to release it. We believe it will stand as a fitting tribute to her musical legacy," he said.

"I never realised what a true genius she was ... it took my breath away."

Some of the album tracks were recorded as far back as 2002, before Winehouse began her well-documented struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.

It also includes the last ever song she recorded, "Body and Soul", a duet with legendary singer Tony Bennett. The pair recorded their cover of the 1930s jazz tune at London's famous Abbey Road studios in March.

Following her death, "Back to Black" became Britain's highest-selling album of the 21st century.

Katie Holmes on HIMYM

The actress will be on the TV show “How I Met Your Mother” dressed as a pumpkin for the sitcom’s Halloween episode. The 32-year-old Holmes was selected for the role by co-creator Craig Thomas, who said the star’s guest appearance was "literally six seasons in the making."

Nick Cannon talks about Mariah Carey's workout goal for post-baby body

Nick Cannon and his wife Mariah Carey recently showed off their twins Moroccan and Monroe to the world for the first time last week on "20/20." Cannon says that his wife is working hard on "getting in shape" after giving birth to the babies in April.

"You saw how good she looked on [the 20/20 special]!" Cannon, 31, told Us Weekly recently. "We filmed that a while ago, too."

"I personally think she's going to come out looking better -- looking like it's 1990!" he added. "I think that's what she's aiming for, and I think she'll reach that goal."

Carey herself has Tweeted about her attempts to work off the baby weight. In August she posted a photo of herself on Twitter in a bathing suit saying, "Ocean work out! It's been a loooong time since I've been in the ocean."

The Grammy-winning singer said she has also been taking long walks with her five Jack Russell terriers named Cha Cha, Jackie Lambchops, Jill E. Beans, Squeak E. Beans and JJ.

Carey, 41, and her husband Nick Cannon welcomed their twins Moroccan and Monroe on April 30 via Caesarean section. The date also marked the couple's second wedding anniversary.

Carey and Cannon sat down with Barbara Walters to introduce the tots in an interview that aired on October 21 and to discuss their struggles conceiving, the singer's high-risk pregnancy, parenthood and their marriage.

The singer said her body endured a lot of stress from the pregnancy. "I don't think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body," Carey said in the interview. "Like it's not just, oh you don't look pretty and you have a bump."

The couple recently started a website called dembabies.com, where fans can see candid photos of the six-month-old twins and their celebrity parents.

Lady Gaga becomes the first person to reach 15 million followers on Twitter

The pop singer is the top Twitter user with over 15 million Twitter followers. Lady Gaga became the first user of the social network site to reach the milestone on October 27, according to Media Bistro's All Twitter blog. Gaga also set a personal best by gaining a million Twitter followers in just 28 days. Previously it took her around 31 days during July and August to reach that goal.

The All Twitter blog estimates that Gaga could pass 16 million followers in a month and might reach 20 million by March or April 2012.

The singer hit the 15 million follower mark while visiting India to attend the unveiling of the country's first Formula 1 Grand Prix race.

"I am finally here + what a dream come true. Performing at Formula 1 in INDIA, and my first day here I reached #15millionmonsters," she wrote on Thursday.

The closest person to Lady Gaga's record is currently teen pop star Justin Bieber, who has 13.8 million followers on Twitter. Katy Perry is in third with 11.4 million.

Gaga once held the record for most Facebook likes, but was surpassed by Eminem in February. The rapper still outpaces Lady Gaga on Facebook with his 48.3 million likes to Lady Gaga's 44 million.

Recently, the 25-year-old singer was challenged by animal rights group PETA to wear to pose in a dress made out of lettuce leaves while she is in India.

"If she agrees, we'll make her a dress entirely of lettuce and held together by pins and threads," Sachin Bangera of PETA India told the Associated Press. "It will be a full length gown, and we'll make sure it looks sexy. Someone will be on hand to spray the lettuce with water so that it doesn't wilt."

The singer famously wore a dress made out of raw meat to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards to protest the "Don't Ask, Don't tell" policy, which banned openly gay U.S. service members. The policy has since been lifted.

Lady Gaga, who is known for her controversial costumes, had said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" she did not mean to cause disrespect to vegans or vegetarians by wearing her meat dress to the MTV awards ceremony.

A lettuce leaf outfit may be easier for locals in India to stomach. Vegetarian diets are common in the country, where cows are considered sacred by the country's Hindus, who make up a majority of the population. The slaughter of cattle is banned in several states.

Nicole Richie Dresses as Jennifer Lopez for Halloween

She's still Nicky from the block! Nicole Richie stuck to her guns this Halloween and avoided wearing a "slutty" costume at Kate Hudson's bash in the Pacific Palisades Saturday night. Still, Richie managed to impersonate one of Hollywood's sexiest icons: Jennifer Lopez!

For her funny but prim J Lo getup, Richie, 30, donned the 42-year-old diva's iconic pink sweatsuit, oversized gold aviators, huge hoop earrings, accessorized with a Louis Vuitton bag; she wore her hair up in a bun and even made sure her skin matched Lopez's gorgeous golden glow..

On Thursday, the designer, Hollywood kid and mother of two pleaded on her Facebook page: "Girls, can we all pledge that we will not dress slutty for this Halloween? The jig is up!".

The mom to daughter Harlow, 3, and son Sparrow, 2, has successfully avoided "slutty" getups for several Halloweens. In 2010, she was dowdy Margot Tenanbaum from The Royal Tenanbaums and peppy Jessie the Cowgirl from the Toy Story films; in 2009, she covered up as the White Rabbit fromAlice in Wonderland..

Jay-Z explains impact of hip-hop, 'fight' over 'all-rap' tour

Jay-Z, a hip-hop icon, husband of Beyonce and one of the most successful music producers today, says promoters were reluctant to support his first "all-rap" tour more than 10 years ago.

The 41-year-old Grammy-winning rapper made his comments in a recent interview that is part of the AOL HuffPost Media Group's new video series, "Tanning Effect." Its host, Steve Stoute, is promoting his first book, The Tanning Of America: How the Culture of Hip-Hop Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy," which was released in September.
Jay-Z was born Shawn Carter in Brooklyn in New York City. He began his music career in the mid-1990s and in 1996 dropped his first album, "Reasonable Doubt," which also featured late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.
Two years later, Jay-Z released what would become his breakout single, "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)." In 1999, he and fellow hip hop artists DMX, Method Man and Redman embarked on the "Hard Knock Life Tour," which was also the subject of a 2000 documentary called "Back Stage."

"The first time we were doing an all-rap lineup ... I remember the first time we were trying to take this out - it was like, 'You need an R&B act on the bill,'" Jay-Z said. "They were really telling us that for insurance purposes and for the look of the thing. I was like, 'No.'"
"DMX had had two No. 1 albums out that year. I had an album that year that sold 5 million copies. I'm like, 'I think we can tour at least in America,'" he added. "But it was always that sort of fight. And then when we got to those concerts, it was like, 80-20, it was like white people in the audience. Just dominated it. And this is this all-rap concert."

Hip-hop music is among the most popular genres today and tops the mainstream pop charts around the world. Jay-Z said the genre "has always been a global thing" and compared it to jazz.
"In the early days of jazz, Quincy Jones and them, they were touring overseas before they (were) even allowed to play clubs in the South," he told Stoute. "So hip-hop was just young, youth music that didn't have those boundaries outside of America."
Despite its popularity, hip hop is also among the most criticized of music genres.

Some say many rap songs glorify violence and drug use and that young people may be too influenced by feuds between U.S. rappers that have lead to deaths, such as the killings of The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Others say such criticism is unfounded and that rap music provides escapism, much like movies or video games. Jay-Z said hip-hop is "about expression."
"Hip-hop had a voice," he told Stoute. 'Jazz hit great notes and things like that but hip-hop spoke directly to people, spoke to their heart, into how they were feeling."
Jay-Z, who was once a gang member who sold drugs on the street, has spoken out about his own history with violence.

Robert Pattinson jokes that he and Kristen Stewart might already be married

Robert Pattinson is busy promoting "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I" in Europe and was up to his usual tricks, joking that he might already be married to Kristen Stewart thanks to their on-screen wedding.

"The wedding scene's funny because we used a real priest," Pattinson joked during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday (see clip below). "So technically we are already married because he did all the things you would do in a normal ceremony. So we don't have a civil union in law, but I guess in the church we are actually married."

Stewart, 21, recently confirmed her years-long relationship with the British actor in an interview with British GQ magazine. Pattinson, 25, was joined by co-star Ashley Greene at the press conference and went on to discuss the upcoming film's awkward love scenes.

"The sex scenes were difficult," Pattinson said. "The set was crazy and you have about 20 people in the room and someone saying things like: 'No, Bella would not have made that noise. Can we do it again?' It was very charged, but a very tender and sentimental scene. It's not a scene from the book, so everyone was nervous about doing it right. A ton of other people were nervous. And, Kristen and I were both worried about the shape of our bodies would look on camera. We felt vulnerable."

The actor, who portrays vampire Edward Cullen said that he didn't understand his character's fear of sex. The best-selling series, which was written by Mormon author Stephenie Meyer, built sexual tension with what Time magazine once called "the erotics of abstinence." The "Twilight" love birds waited until marriage to consummate their love.

"[Bella] is the one who initiates the sex," the actor continued. "It's a different move and I like that it's not so predictable. Bella is already pushing for it in the movie and it's Edward that seems scared. I've never been able to relate to that fear of sex or sexuality. It's funny that all three movies portray sex as something scary and then, when they have sex in the fourth movie, they have a child with really rather devastating consequences. I'm not sure what they are trying to say... never have sex with anyone ever?"

The first official video clip from the highly anticipated film "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" recently surfaced and shows what appears to be Edward Cullen, carrying his new bride Bella Swan, played by Stewart, over the threshold as the two begin their honeymoon.

The movie is the first part of the fourth installment in the fantasy romance series, based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" depicts the wedding of Swan, a human, and Cullen, a vampire, and the consequences of their union.

The movie is set for release on November 18 and also stars other returning cast members such as Taylor Lautner, whose werewolf character, Jacob Black, remains jealous of the tragic couple, and Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone, who play Cullen's adopted siblings. Their parents are portrayed by Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser.

Rathbone told OnTheRedCarpet.com recently that Stewart rendered him and their other co-stars breathless as she walked down the aisle in Bella Swan's dress while filming the wedding of Swan and Cullen.

The actor also referenced another anticipated part of the movie, saying: "Yes, in the honeymoon scene, we get to finally see what we've all been waiting for - some boot-knockin."

The previous three movies, the first of which was released in 2008, have grossed more than 1.8 billion worldwide. The second part of "Breaking Dawn" is due to be released on Nov. 16, 2012.

Lady Gaga to wear lettuce dress in India?

Will Lady Gaga's next (potentially) edible outfit appeal to vegetarians?

The 25-year-old singer, who famously wore a dress made out of raw meat to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, is visiting India to attend the unveiling of the country's first Formula 1 Grand Prix race and is also set to perform after the event. The animal rights group PETA is calling on her to pose in a dress made out of lettuce leaves while she is in the country.

Lady Gaga has not commented. She arrived in India on Friday, October 28. She wore a beehive wig with green and saffron highlights - a nod to the colors of the country's flag, and a one-shoulder, colorful dress designed by Indian-born Naeem Khan (see photos).

"Namaste, everyone," she said at a press conference, quoting a traditional Hindi greeting. "I feel so blessed. I never would have imagined years ago that I would be able to come to India and perform and meet my new amazing fans that are here. The sights here in India are beautiful but the most beautiful sight is the people. I'm looking forward to coming back."

"I have built a special stage for this show that I'm doing on Sunday," she added. "It is unique for India. it has never been done anywhere else in the world. I will be incorporating also collaborations that I did with Indian DJs to the performance. I'm excited for you all to see it."

When asked what she plans to wear during her concert, Lady Gaga said: "I don't want to spoil the surprise."

Lady Gaga had worn her meat dress to protest the "Don't Ask, Don't tell" policy, which banned openly gay U.S. service members. The policy has since been lifted.

Earlier this year, parody rocker Weird Al donned a meat dress in a video spoofing Lady Gaga's hit "Born This Way," which promotes equality and gay rights.

In June, the outfit was put on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" exhibit. Preserving the dress took several months. The outfit was kept in a meat locker, placed in chemicals and dried out, giving it a beef jerky-like look. The dress was also painted to look fresher.

Larry King: I got back $700,000 after Bernie Madoff scam

Larry King was among those who were victimized in Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme, but the veteran journalist said that he got his money back from the incident.

King told "Extra" that he and his wife invested $4 million, but took out $3.3 million, leaving $700,000 with Madoff and were fortunate enough to get it back from the Madoff estate and from the government.

"We got $200,000 back from the Madoff estate, and we got $500,000 back from the government for taxes we paid on stock we never had," King told "Extra." "We got it back, but a lot of people sure didn't."

King said that at one point, his wife Shawn wanted to invest everything they had with Madoff but King decided to stay with his investment people.

Madoff didn't make investments, but used money he received from new investors to pay previous ones. The Wall Street Scammer's wife Ruth recently revealed on CBS' "60 Minutes" that she and Bernard tried to kill themselves after he confessed.

In 2009, Madoff, 73, pleaded guilty for fraud and began serving a 150-year prison sentence for running the estimated $20 billion dollar scam, which marks the biggest investment fraud in U.S. history.

King told "Extra" on Thursday that he thought that Ruth had appeared on "60 Minutes" to help her daughter-in-law sell a book on her husband, Mark Madoff, who hung himself with a dog leash last year on the anniversary of his father's arrest.

Kevin Bacon and his actress-wife Kyra Sedgewick were among the scores of customers who were swindled. Though he wouldn't specify the amount of money he invested, Bacon said that he had lost "years and years" of work from the scandal.

In December, Larry King's CNN talk show "Larry King Live" broadcast its final program after 25 years on the air. His time slot was filled by British host Piers Morgan's new talk series in January.

King, 77, said in June 2010 he planned to end his run as the host of "Larry King Live" in order to spend more time with his family but said he would still host specials for CNN.

At the time of his last show, King ranked third in his time slot behind Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, the Associated Press said, adding that "Larry King Live" drew about 700,000 viewers in 2010, down from an average of 1.64 nightly viewers in 1998, the show's peak year.

King has interviewed major celebrities and international leaders, such as U.S. President Barak Obama, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, singer Barbra Streisand and real estate mogul and reality star Donald Trump, who appeared on the finale.

Kim Kardashian To Star Alongside Jurnee Smollett In New Tyler Perry Film

It looks as though Kim Kardashian will be adding ‘acting’ to her budding empire. She has just been handed a starring role in a new Tyler Perry film, titled ‘The Marriage Counselor’ which begins filming in Atlanta on October 26.

According to Deadline, Jurnee Smollett will play the title character of Judith, the Ivy League-educated relationship counselor who is having trouble keeping her own marriage together. Kim plays Judith’s co-worker Ava who gives her a makeover that boosts her confidence in the midst of her struggles. Judith eventually finds herself in a dilemma when she rekindles a relationship with an old college flame.

The film is Tyler Perry’s 13th collaboration with Lionsgate since 2005.

Granted, Kim is a great actress. She acts out her life every day for media outlets that suck it right on up but will she do well in an actual film?

Meanwhile, It looks as though Tyler Perry is banking on Kim Kardashian to give his films a wider appeal after all of the controversy surrounding his films. Kim will equal more press and promotion for Tyler who is hoping to get out of the ‘stereotypical black film’ box. Kim, in return, will capitalize off of Tyler Perry’s following so it will end up being a win/win for everyone.

Kelly Clarkson talks dating woes and gay rumors on 'The View'

Kelly Clarkson stopped by "The View" on Thursday to promote her new album "Stronger" and perform her latest single "Mr. Know It All." Instead, the ladies of "The View" got the singer to dish about her love life - or lack thereof - and clarify her "I've never been in love" statement.

The singer said in a recent interview that she has "never been in love" and has "never experienced certain things, and I think that's because I have this side of me that is shut off. Because I haven't found anybody yet to open to that I feel like, 'OK, you're worth breaking down that wall for.' I've never found that."

During her visit to "The View" Clarkson talked about her break-up songs saying they were a metaphor for business relationships and friendships in her life. She also admitted "I haven't had a boyfriend in a while," which was why some people might be questioning her sexuality.

Clarkson, who grew up in Burleson, Texas, told the panelists, "I'm from a small town, so everyone's married with children or about to have children. It's a little hard when you go home and people are like -- and that's why people think I'm gay -- because they're like, 'Why aren't you married?' And I'm like, 'It doesn't happen for everyone right off the bat!'"

The singer has denied lesbian rumors in the past. In September she told E! News, "People keep saying I'm gay, and I'm not." She added, "I'm pretty sure I've never made out with a girl. It's just not helping me because I'm straight. No boy wants to hit on me because I make mean songs about them, and they think I'm gay."

Instead, Clarkson insists, her passion for music keeps her away from getting into serious relationships. "I dated some cool guys, I don't know if I've met someone like, 'I could spend the rest of my life with you.'"

When Whoopi Goldberg pointed out that Clarkson's decade-long career has outlasted a lot of other pop acts, Clarkson added, "That's why I say it's partly my fault 'cause I haven't found anybody that I would put that on the side for and I think it's my purpose, you know music. I think it's what I'm here for. And I don't know, I might not want to do this when I'm 50."

What does she want to do when she is 50-years-old? Clarkson said, "I want to be married. I want to find someone. It looks romantic and all. The last date that I went on was horrible so I'd like to go on a good date. "

Clarkson is the most successful "American Idol" alum and is known for fast pop-rock songs that empower women and would likely appeal to those scorned by lovers, including "Miss Independent," Since U Been Gone" and "Behind Those Hazel Eyes."

Earlier this month, Clarkson performed on the ABC reality show "Dancing With The Stars" to promote "Stronger." (see photos).

Usher Attacked By Screaming Lady

Last weekend, Ursh was trying to have a lowkey day and some Halloween fun when he was attacked in the parking lot of a Little Five Points store by a screaming lady. According to a video obtained by TMZ, the woman became furious when he parked in a handicap parking spot and proceeded to attack him when he wouldn’t move his car.

It’s bad enough she was making a scene in the parking lot…but her kids were on hand to see her acting a plum fool. They can be heard in the background screaming. Meanwhile Usher didn’t appear to have any bodyguards on deck but Elvis Presley and other onlookers helped keep the woman off of him (even though it looks like she got a hit in there).

Keri HIlson Attached On Stage By Crazed Fan

A few weeks ago, Miss Keri Baby got more than she bargained for while performing in Paris on her ‘No Boys Allowed’ tour. An overzealous fan rushed the stage during her last song of the night and snatched her right on up. I’m not sure what he was thinking, but security immediately rushed the stage and knocked the fans lights out. Keri received a blow to the head by security in the process.

After it was all said and done, she tweeted:

RT @EmmaHollyFierce: Psycho guy tried to kiss Keri OMG!!!!! <<–no, his intentions were good! But I was def caught off guard. To the guy who ran on stage & stole a kiss, I LOVE YOU TOO. Didn’t appreciate how u were handled. But next time, enjoy from the audience I just learned that dude jumped from the 2nd story balcony for the task…ok, so maybe he was a lil crazy! Just jokes. I love my fans, yo!!! Check out the video of the altercation below which coincidentally follows an interview of Beyonce talking about where she gets the inspiration to write her songs. Sidenote: She didn’t appreciate how he was handled? He shouldn’t have even made it to the stage. The bodyguards were well within their rights to handle the situation the way they did considering he jumped from a balcony, hopped on stage and snatched her up like that. That looked like a scene straight out of ‘The Bodyguard’.

Eddie Murphy Says He’s Gotten Over His Grudge Against ‘Saturday Night Live’

When Ben Stiller hosted "Saturday Night Live" a few weeks ago, it was rumored that his appearance might be complemented with a surprise cameo from his "Tower Heist" co-star, Eddie Murphy. It might seem like a safe guess for TV pundits to make: After all, Murphy (like Stiller) is an "SNL" alumnus. But Murphy hadn't darkened the door of Studio 8H in years — reportedly due to a Weekend Update joke from David Spade. However, in a new interview timed to the release of "Tower Heist," Murphy comments on that rumored grudge — and asserts that he's over it.
Rolling Stone has published an early tease of its upcoming cover story on Murphy, in which the star talks about (among other things) his recent run of family-oriented films, his last Oscar nomination, and his possible return to standup comedy. The profile's author, Brian Hiatt, also raises the question of Murphy's abstention from "SNL" over the past couple of decades, to which Murphy responds by confirming that he did bear the show a grudge.

They were s***ty to me on Saturday Night Live a couple of times after I'd left the show....They said some s***ty things. There was that David Spade sketch [when Spade showed a picture of Murphy around the time of Vampire In Brooklyn and said, 'Look, children, a falling star']. I made a stink about it, it became part of the folklore. What really irritated me about it at the time was that it was a career shot.

And now? Hiatt quotes Murphy as saying, "I felt s***ty about it for years, but now, I don't have none of that."

It's probably overstating Murphy's feeling on the subject — judging by this excerpt, at least — to say he'd be open to hosting "SNL" again, but we'll have to wait for the full story to hit newsstands and the web, on October 28, to know for sure.

Boyz II Men releases new album to mark 20 years in music

Boyz II Men is celebrating their 20-year career in the music industry in a big way.

The all-male vocal group recently released an album called "Twenty" consisting of a mix of their classic tracks and new songs, according to MTV. There are 12 new songs on the 20-track album, which hit stores on October 25.

"'Twenty' is our latest effort," Wanya Morris told MTV News. "It consists of the span of 20 years of our career. It's been seven years since we did an album with our own music; it felt like it was time to put our efforts and our maturity and all of the things we gained through the 20 years on this album."

"We're trying our best to transcend time," he added. "At the same time maintain our integrity and allow people to see the maturity as well."

Boyz II Men is currently made up of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman and was once a quartet with group member Michael McCary, who left in 2003 as the result of health issues. The group is known for hits like "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," "On Bended Knee" and "One Sweet Day."

The group's debut album "Cooleyhighharmony" sold 9 million copies, while their follow-up album "II" sold 12 million. The group's popularity began to slide in 1997 when their third studio album "Evolution" sold just 3 million copies and the group had issues with their record label Motown.

Boyz II Men recently collaborated with Justin Bieber for his Christmas album "Under the Mistletoe." Their 1991 single "Uhh Ahh" was also sampled on Beyonce's recent single "Countdown."

"Music is who we are. Our concepts may be different; obviously, it's 20 years later, [and] we've grown, Nathan Morris told the music network. "It's the only thing that has really kept us here for 20 years. The concept of music is still the same, but what we write about and what we think about nowadays is a little different. We're a little older, but the main objective is still all about love."

Jennifer Lopez talks being a 'tougher' 'American Idol' judge and lessons in love

Jennifer Lopez filled in Kara Dioguardi's seat season on "American Idol" last season and now that she has a season under her belt, Lopez thinks that she and fellow judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will be a bit more critical of the new contestants next year.

"We're a little tougher on everybody," Lopez told People magazine recently. "Because of last season and the standard that we set, it's easy to go, 'Is he as good as even our top 24 from last year?' "

She also said that she has grown closer with her fellow judges. "They're like my brothers and they drive me crazy like brothers, too," Lopez said. "But we love each other, which is why we've become like a family."

The actress made headlines earlier this week for weeping on stage during a concert on Saturday, October 22 after singing about lost love to her song "Until It Beats No More." Lopez explained that the song reminded her of her twin son and daughter, Max and Emme and she began to cry when she saw her mother in the audience.

Lopez, who split from her husband Marc Anthony in July, told Glamour magazine that she's learned a lot about love recently. Lopez, 42, and Anthony, 43, did not specify a reason for the split. The two married in June 2004 and their twin son and daughter, Max and Emme, were born in February 2008.

"I think I've finally learned the biggest lesson of all. You've got to love yourself first. You've got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with somebody else," she said in a interview. Lopez appears on the cover of the magazine's December issue.

"You've got to value yourself and know that you're worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can't really have a healthy relationship," she added.

The actress was recently spotted with actor Bradley Cooper but the two have not commented on the nature of their relationship.

"I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye," Lopez told Glamour. "You know the media -- they want to rush everything."

The Bronx-born beauty also recently launched a fall 2011 collection for Kohl's department stores. Clothes from the line went on sale on September 7. The performer has already achieved fashion acclaim with her JLO by Jennifer Lopez and JustSweet lines.

Lopez said that despite being exposed to high fashion over the years she still loves a good pair of jeans. "The things I liked when I was, like, 16 and in the Bronx - jeans, cut-up T-shirts - I still like."

She added, "But I've been exposed to so much now from traveling the world and seeing couture clothes. I used all of that when I created my new line for Kohl's. My style has come from everything, from where I started to where I am today."

Jennifer Aniston says she's 'gained a couple of pounds,' talks pregnancy & engagement rumors

Jennifer Aniston says she is not pregnant or engaged despite recent rumors and adds she has gained weight because she quit smoking.

The 42-year-old actress made her comments to the tabloid Hello! magazine during a press conference to promote "Five," a Lifetime cable network film series about breast cancer that features her as a first-time director, People reported.

"Rumor No. 1 - I am not planning to get married any time soon," the magazine quoted Aniston as saying. "I've been married once, and I don't know if I'll get married again. But I can tell you that as of this very moment, I have no plan to get married. Got that? And rumor No. 2 - no, we're not pregnant. It's just I quit smoking, so I've gained a couple of pounds."

Aniston is considered one of Hollywood's most beautiful actresses and earlier this year received the "Decade of Hotness" award at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards. She has been dating boyfriend Justin Theroux, a 40-year-old actor, since at least this past May. She was famously married to Brad Pitt between 2000 and 2005. Aniston fueled engagement rumors several months ago when she was photographed wearing a sparkly ring.

Aniston had told Elle magazine in an interview published in its November 2011 issue that there was "no desperation" to have a child, adding: "If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm at peace with whatever the plan is."

Lifetime's "Five" film series premiered on October 10. Aniston's movie, "Mia" depicts the breast cancer struggle of a woman by the same name, played by Patricia Clarkson. Amid her battle, she holds a mock funeral for herself, gives away her possessions and marries for the second time. The film also stars "Monk" actor Tony Shalhoub and Kathy Najimy.

Aniston, Moore and fellow newbie director Alicia Keys also appeared at a New York event to promote "Five" at the end of September - check out photos here.

Lindsay Lohan to pose nude for Playboy?

Lindsay Lohan, who has been bogged down by legal problems and is struggling to resurrect a once-blooming acting career, plans to pose nude for Playboy Magazine, a report says.

Representatives for the publication declined to comment on the matter, while a spokesperson for the 25-year-old actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com: "We are not confirming right now whether Lindsay is posing for Playboy or not."

TMZ.com reported that Lohan will earn almost $1 million for a revealing photo spread in the magazine and quoted unnamed sources as saying she had already begun to work on the project this past weekend.

The actress, a former child star known for films such as "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," also stripped down for a nude photo shoot in 2008, when she recreated a 1962 spread by late Hollywood star and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe for a New York Magazine feature, and appeared naked in the 2010 film "Machete," although she reportedly used a body double. Lohan has also posed for suggestive photos published in magazines such as Maxim.

The report comes a week before Lohan is set to appear in court on November 2 for a hearing about her probation. A judge had earlier this month revoked it, saying the actress violated it by failing to appear at several scheduled community service appointments, handed down as part of a sentence from a theft case.

Lohan, who has served time behind bars before for violating her probation, which had originally stemmed from a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession conviction, now faces additional jail time. She has in recent days performed several court-mandated community service hours at a morgue.

Lohan's father, Michael, is also in trouble over legal issues. The 51-year-old was arrested early on Tuesday for alleged domestic battery on his on-again, off-again 28-year-old girlfriend, Kate Major. He and his daughter, with whom he has had a strained relationship for years, have not commented.

Demi visit's the Set

The actress recently visited her husband Ashton Kutcher on the set of "Two and a Half Men." Rumors have been flying that it's love on the rocks for the pair, who have been married for six years. A 23-year-old woman has claimed that she recently spent the night with Kutcher.

Hope Solo poses nude in ESPN magazine's 'Body Issue'

Hope Solo faced the threat of elimination on Tuesday night's "Dancing With The Stars," but the U.S. Soccer star's victory last night might not be her only cause for celebration. Solo made the cover of ESPN magazine's annual Body Issue -- posing completely nude.

Solo is not the only "Dancing With The Stars" alum to make the list, which was released on Wednesday, October 5. Season 4 champ Apolo Anton Ohno and season 5 winner Helio Castroneves also show off their bodies for the issue. The annual issue focuses on the beauty of the athletic body and self-confidence. The full list of athletes can be seen here.

"Growing up, I felt insecure about my build. I didn't feel very feminine," the 30-year-old goal keeper revealed to the magazine. Solo is 5' 9 and 150 pounds. "But as time went on, I learned to completely embrace my body. It's helped me attain all my dreams and goals. I didn't have an issue posing nude, because now I see my body as empowering."

During the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Solo and the U.S. women's soccer team won the gold medal after defeating Brazil 1-0. Earlier this year, Solo served as a goal keeper for the U.S. women's national soccer team for the FIFA Women's World Cup. The team lost to Japan in the FIFA Women's World Cup finals 3-0.

"I'm 30, and it's only in the last four years that I've embraced my figure," she added. However, Solo said she doesn't view herself as a sex symbol.

"I still don't buy the idea that I'm a 'sex symbol.' It's amazing that there are so many beautiful bodies out there on the female athletic side, and it's great that they are starting to get attention. But sex symbol? I don't know where that came from," Solo said. "My entire purpose is trying to be the best in the game, and if that exudes beauty too, that's pretty powerful. It means the image of the typical female body type is finally evolving."

After facing the red light on "Dancing With The Stars: The Results Show" on Tuesday, Solo told OnTheRedCarpet.com special correspondent George Pennacchio of KABC Television, "I think the true athlete in me came out tonight and I didn't know I was going to get that invested. "

She added, "I came on the show to prove that athletes can have some sort of -- a different side to them, you know, the whole feminine side to them. And I came on the show not expecting to do great but now I'm committed and I'm here for the long haul."

Madonna's brother, Anthony Ciccone: 'I'm homeless'

Madonna older brother, Anthony, says he is homeless and currently sleeps under a bridge in Traverse City, Michigan.

The 55-year-old made his comments to the Michigan Messenger newspaper. Ciccone says he has been homeless for a year and a half since losing his job at Ciccone Vineyard & Winery, located in Suttons Bay, Michigan and owned by the siblings' father, Tony.

"My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time," the Michigan Messenger quoted Anthony Ciccone as saying in an article posted last week. "You think I haven't answered this kind of question a bazillion times - why my sister is a multibazillionarie, and I'm homeless on the street?"

"This could happen to anybody," he added. "I don't have any income. I've got to go collect bottles and cans, do odd jobs. I got frostbite on my feet last winter. A friend of mine lost all ten toes. Several have died of hypothermia."

A spokesperson for Madonna declined to comment about his remarks. Representatives from at Ciccone Vineyard & Winery had no immediate response.

Anthony Ciccone and Madonna, 53, are among six children born to winery owner Silvio "Tony" Ciccone and their mother, also named Madonna, who passed away at age 30 in 1963 after battling breast cancer.

Ciccone Vineyard & Winery was established about 15 years ago and in 2006 launched a five-variety collection of "Madonna Wines." The singer's father and his current wife, Joan, run the wine business along with their son and cellar master, Mario, and grandson, Silvio Jr.

Robin Williams marries Susan Schneider in Napa Valley

Robin Williams is once again a married man -- the comedian tied the knot with Susan Schneider on Saturday in California.

At Napa Valley's Meadowood Resort, the 60-year-old "Patch Adams" star met graphic designer Schneider at the altar before friends and family, People confirms.

The couple reportedly got serious in 2009 as Williams recovered from heart surgery. Schneider is the actor's third bride. He has three children from previous marriages: Zachary, actress Zelda and Cody.

Set against the fall foliage of the vineyard, the new Mr. and Mrs. Williams danced the night away , according to Zelda.

'Jersey Shore' house rents for $2,500 a night

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. (AP) — Fans of MTV's "Jersey Shore" can get a firsthand look at the gym-tan-laundry lifestyle by renting the house where the reality series is taped.

Just bring $2,500 a night and your own drama.

Renters to the home in Seaside Heights have access to the duck phone and the double bed in the Smush Room. But they won't find the usual mess because the landlord cleaned the place.

Renter Joe Ambrosini of Philadelphia tells the Asbury Park Press (http://bit.ly/pJtN3c ) people took his picture anytime he went out of the deck. The 33-year-old says it was like "buying 15 minutes of fame."

Jennifer Bauer of Toms River says it's cool sleeping in the same bedrooms where the cast stayed. But Bauer says she brought her own sheets.

Jennifer Lopez Gives Tearful Performance About Lost Love

Jennifer Lopez was spreading the love on Saturday night, but deep inside she was feeling mixed emotions.

At her jam-packed Mohegan Sun concert in Montville, Conn., the 42-year-old put together a bit focused around her love songs.

"You want to talk about love? I can talk about love. Oh, the stories!" she said during a heartfelt speech to the audience before breaking out with her hit "If You Had My Love."

Afterwards she said, "That's the first song I wrote about love. And this is the last song I wrote about love. A lot has happened since then!"

As she belted out one of her newer songs, a montage of male and female dance pairs whirled behind her. They paid homage to her past romances: her with a Diddy-esque person, her and a Ben Affleck type and lastly her and a Marc Anthony lookalike.

"A little trip down memory lane," the star, who separated from her husband of seven years Marc Anthony in July, said, as she paused and looked down.

When the camera zoomed in and showed her starting to tear up, the crowd gave her a standing ovation.

'Paranormal Activity 3' scares up huge $54M debut

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Paranormal Activity 3" didn't just go bump in the night. It made a ton of noise at the box office with a record-setting, $54 million opening.

The third film in Paramount Pictures' low-budget fright franchise, which was No. 1 at the box office, had the biggest debut ever for a horror movie, according to Sunday studio estimates. It broke the previous record part two set a year ago with $40.7 million. It's also the biggest opening ever for an October release, topping the $50.35 million Paramount's "Jackass 3D" made last year.

"Paranormal Activity 3" is actually a prequel, with the discovery of disturbing home-movie footage from 1988. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who made the creepy documentary "Catfish," took over directing duties this time.

Don Harris, Paramount's president of distribution, said the studio hoped part three would simply perform better than part two. The first "Paranormal Activity," with its reported $15,000 budget, became a phenomenon in 2009 through midnight screenings and word of mouth.

Harris believes this installment did so well because it's actually the best movie of the three. He noted that it appealed to an older crowd, with 47 percent over the age of 25 compared to 40 percent for "Paranormal Activity 2." Strong reviews also helped, he said, including a rave from Time magazine. And fundamentally, horror movies simply play better in a packed theater.

"Ultimately, it gets back to why there's still a theatrical business, why people still go to the movies," Harris said. "We want to laugh in a group, we want to be scared in a group, people like to cry in a group in the dark where nobody can see them crying. It's all the reason movie theaters exist and this genre has always been front and center."

Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com, said he was expecting "Paranormal Activity 3" to come in around $35 million for the weekend, simply because most newcomers have been underperforming this fall.

"This brand is as solid as the 'Twilight' brand or the 'Jackass' brand. There are certain brands that just transcend any kind of box-office rhyme or reason. They just resonate," Dergarabedian said. "These are shot in someone's house, they look like they're shot with a home video recorder, and people just relate to it."

Last week's No. 1 release, the futuristic boxing robot adventure "Real Steel," fell to second place. It made $11.3 million for a domestic total of $67.2 million. Worldwide, the Disney movie has grossed $153.3 million.

Among the other new releases this week, Summit Entertainment's 3-D version of "The Three Musketeers" came in fourth place with $8.8 million. And Universal's "Johnny English Reborn," a sequel to the 2003 spy parody starring Rowan Atkinson, opened at No. 8 with $3.8 million. But it's already a huge hit internationally, having made $104.5 million so far.

In limited release, the critically acclaimed psychological thriller "Martha Marcy May Marlene" made $137,541 on four screens in New York and Los Angeles. That's a hefty $34,385 per screen average, according to Fox Searchlight.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Where available, latest international numbers are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Kelly Clarkson: Celebrity is bizarre

Kelly Clarkson thinks that being a celebrity is “weird”.

The 29-year-old singer has had ten singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and has amassed worldwide acclaim for her music. Even with all her success fame is still an odd experience for Kelly.

"Celebrity is weird," Kelly told USA Today.

Kelly feels like a normal person. When she reads articles about herself she is shocked by the coverage.

"I have no controversy," she explained. "You don't see me in rehab, or you don't see me coming out with my hey-haw showing. There's not much to report. So when anything little is reported, it's like, 'Oh, my God, she wasn't wearing make-up!' "

Kelly does not want to cater to the public. She lives her life according to the standards that she sets for herself.

"I'm not held to anything," Kelly declared. "And I don't wear make-up when I don't want to wear make-up."

Kelly is deeply satisfied with the way her life is panning out at the moment. The songstress wants to be surrounded with positivity.

"I don't have regrets," Kelly said. "But if I were to tell myself or write myself a letter, it would be: Really make sure you're surrounding yourself with good people. Because I love music, but I am way more about: We have one life and I want to have good character, I want to be around people with good character who have good motives."

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon debut twins on '20/20'

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon debuted their baby twins Moroccan and Monroe on an episode of "20/20," set to air on October 21.

The six-month-old twins, who go by "Roc and Roe" at home and "dem babies" on Carey's Twitter have been hidden from public view until now. Carey and Cannon sat down with Barbara Walters to introduce the tots and to discuss their struggles conceiving, the singer's high-risk pregnancy, parenthood and their marriage.

Though the couple are joyful parents now, the process of conceiving was fraught with difficulties, including a miscarriage. With the help of fertility treatments, the couple welcomed their twins in April.

"I don't think I understood the enormity or the magnitude of what it really does to your body," the Grammy-winning singer said in a promo for the episode. "Like it's not just, oh you don't look pretty and you have a bump."

Carey, 41, and Cannon welcomed their twins Moroccan and Monroe on April 30 via Caesarean section. The date also marked the couple's second wedding anniversary.

Cannon, a 30-year-old radio and television host, announced the arrival on Twitter writing, "My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won't ever be able to top this!"

Carey's rep said that they were listening to Carey's "We Belong Together" when the children were born. The twins are couple's first children together and Carey recently declared that she doesn't intend to have more.

On Easter, Carey posted a photo of her belly, which sported a colorful, painted picture of a butterfly, one of her favorite symbols and the name of her sixth studio album, which came out in 1997. The words "Dem Babies" were painted above the butterfly.

Jessica Simpson remains mum on pregnancy rumors

Jessica Simpson has remained mum on pregnancy rumors, despite appearing on the cover of OK! magazine with the headline, 'Yes, I'm Having a Baby.'

The accompanying story quotes a "close friend" as saying, "Jessica is so excited... She joked, 'Well, now I can eat anything I want and no one will care. It's just sort of a rule with pregnant women.'"

Simpson's representation had no immediate comment.

The singer's father seemed to have an opinion on the rumor-mill though. "Makes me crazy when people lie about my children!!" Joe Simpson wrote on Twitter on October 20, without elaborating.

Simpson hasn't denied nor confirmed reports that she's expecting a baby with fiancé Eric Johnson. Simpson and Johnson began dating in May 2010 and announced the following November, after he finalized his divorce from his first wife, that they are engaged. No wedding date has been announced.

This will also be the second marriage for Simpson. She and her first husband, Nick Lachey, on the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica", which documented their married life together. The two divorced in 2006. Lachey and television personality Vanessa Minnillo wed in July.

Simpson, known for her voluptuous figure, has been the target of rumors for several months. She recently responded to reports that she was getting a breast reduction, telling fans that her breasts "aren't going anywhere."

Simpson has in recent years focused on her fashion endeavors. Her collections of apparel, perfume and other products, which are marketed to young women, have raked in almost $1 billion in sales.

The singer recently launched her own line of diamond jewelry with Zales and also teamed up with celebrity aesthetician Nerida Joy to launch BeautyMint, an online portal that sells anti-aging skincare.

Simpson is already an aunt to her sister Ashlee's 2-year-old son Bronx Mowgli.

In February, Ashlee Simpson filed for divorce from Pete Wentz, a 32-year-old member of the rock band Fall Out Boy and the father of Bronx Mowgli, their only child. They married in May 2008.

Sofia Vergara shows off bikini body during Los Cabos vacation

The actress visited Los Cabos, Mexico with her boyfriend Nick Loeb and shared several Twitpics of her trip with fans, including ones of her sporting various sexy swimsuits and indulging in margaritas and chicken tacos.

The Colombian actress and Nick Loeb met in January at a Golden Globes party. The 36-year-old businessman and Vergara shared some public displays of affection while soaking up some sun.

Vergara had much to celebrate after launching a successful fashion line for K-Mart and arrived back stateside on Friday.

The actress was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series, but lost to her co-star Julie Bowen, who plays Claire Dunphy on the hit ABC comedy.

Ashton Kutcher sans wedding ring slams media integrity in video

Ashton Kutcher has been uncharacteristically silent since it was reported that he cheated on his wife Demi Moore, but now the actor has spoken out, slamming the media's lack of integrity.

In the video posted on the new social network site Chime. In, Kutcher appears a bit weary and is no longer wearing his wedding ring.

"I just wanted to open up a little dialogue on the state of honesty. The state of truth. The status of truth as it pertains to literature and media," Kutcher said in the video, which was published on October 19. "Because publishers had a limited amount of inventory, publishers held great scrutiny over what they would be willing to print -- they were the gatekeepers of the truth. If it seemed like something wasn't the truth, they wouldn't print it because their reputation was on the line."

"When the cost structure comes down on printing... the level of honesty of literature started to plummet, the integrity of literature started to plummet because it was so easy to do," Kutcher continued. "I started thinking about that in relation to media and social media today where the threshold to actually have literature printed and distributed, the cost threshold is zero dollars. Thereby there is no gatekeeper of the truth."

"We are our own editors, we are our own publishers and we are our own printers. Thereby, people can bastardize the truth in any way, shape or form that they want and spread that around the world," Kutcher said. "There's that old saying where a lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can leave someone's lips... I was thinking that we really have to take it upon ourselves to instill a level of honesty in the works in the media that we create and share with one another and be certain that we are doing our own diligence that what we are saying is for the benefit of another."

Kutcher and Moore have appeared in public several times since rumors emerged that their marriage was in jeopardy.

The couple recently visited a Kaballah center in Los Angeles, where they attended a private meeting and they were also spotted on a Kaballah camping retreat.

Kutcher recently addressed rumors of his alleged split from his wife Demi Moore with cryptic Twitter messages.

The "Two and a Half Men" actor first posted a link to the Public Enemy song, "Don't Believe The Hype," which features the lyrics, "I'm the epitome - a public enemy. Used, abused without clues, I refused to blow a fuse. They even had it on the news. Don't believe the hype."

On Thursday morning, he also Tweeted, "When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an [expletive] out of U and ME."

Moore has not addressed the rumors and spokespeople for the actors had no immediate comment about the reports.

The tabloid magazine Star, said in its recent cover story that the two are headed for a $290 million divorce and have been living apart for months. Online reports said the 33-year-old actor had a fling with a 22-year-old woman.

The actor's alleged mistress Sara Leal recently spoke out for the first time since the actor's reported indiscretion and claims her life has become a "mess" since the incident.

Similar reports of indiscretion were made in October 2010. At the time, Kutcher said: "I think Star magazine calling me a 'cheater' qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees. STAR magazine - you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction."

Later that month, the couple jetted off to Israel for what Kutcher called a spiritual journey. He and Moore, 48, practice Jewish Mysticism, known as Kaballah, and have visited the Jewish state before.

The pair married in 2005 after dating for about two years. They spent their sixth wedding anniversary on Sept. 24 apart, People magazine said.

It said Kutcher, who recently made his debut as the new star of the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men," was in San Diego, California at the time while Moore was in New York to promote a short film she directed about breast cancer for the Lifetime cable network.

The actress also Tweeted this cryptic quote on September 23: "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger. -Epictetus."

Paris Hilton dons Vena Cava dress to 'Dirty Dancing' musical premiere

Paris Hilton donned a rust-colored Vena Cava wrap dress to the premiere of the "Dirty Dancing" stage musical in Oberhasen, Germany this week.

The socialite-turned reality star complemented the plunged-neck dress with a black quilted leather clutch, dark brown fishnets and a dark fur capelet.

"While I was in Germany, I got to attend the premiere of Dirty Dancing, the live stage musical in Oberhasen," Hilton wrote on her website of the live production, which was held at the Metronom Theater . "The quality of the production was unbelievable and the dancing was immaculate! Very well done!"

The 30-year-old socialite recently completed her probation from a 2010 drug arrest. Hilton completed 200 hours of community service and paid a $2,000 fine as part of her obligations to the court, in addition to the year-long probation.

Hilton and then-boyfriend Cy Waits were detained together in August 2010 in Las Vegas after officers detected a "strong smell of marijuana" coming from their Cadillac Escalade.

Hilton pleaded guilty in September 2010 to misdemeanor cocaine possession and obstruction charges stemming from the case. She and Waits broke up in June.

Waits pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of marijuana on August 24, according to the Las Vegas Sun. In addition, two other charges -- including marijuana possession -- were dropped.

Hilton rose to fame with the reality series "The Simple Life," which aired between 2003 and 2007 and also starred fellow Los Angeles socialite Nicole Richie. Just before the show premiered, a homemade sex tape of Hilton and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was posted online. It was later released on DVD.

She recently had a short-lived reality show called "The World According To Paris" which was canceled in August due to low ratings.

M.C. Hammer is starting his own search engine

M.C. Hammer is in the process of launching a search engine. This sounds like a joke. It is not.

At the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, the rapper, businessman and ordained minister announced Wednesday that he has launched a new search engine called WireDoo. Which is not as solid a search engine name as 2Legit would have been, but there is not much that can be done about that now.

The element that distinguishes it from Google? As Mashable explains, it generates results based on relationships between subjects that run deeper than keywords.

So, to put this in an M.C. Hammer context, if I searched on WireDoo for “U Can’t Touch This,” I might find links to the song, M.C. Hammer’s bio, where to buy parachute-style Hammer pants and information about a “U Can’t Touch This” dance party that’s happening in my neighborhood.

Hammer — who has some experience in the Internet realm, having launched the site Dancejam.com — and his team have worked on the WireDoo project for two years. Currently, the site is in pre-beta test mode.

The tagline for the search engine is “Search once and see what’s related.” Which is straight-forward enough but not exactly sexy. Hammer, if you want to compete with Google on any level, you’ve got to use your best asset. Change that tagline to: “Giving you deep search results, faster than the speed of Hammer time.”

I mean, that’s a no-brainer, right?

John Singleton sues Paramount over Hustle and Flow deal

John Singleton is taking legal action against Paramount Pictures over claims it reneged on an agreement made over the 2005 film Hustle and Flow.

The Hollywood director sold the movie to Paramount because the studio agreed to finance two future films of his choice, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Singleton, who produced the film, told the paper Paramount "kept thwarting my efforts to make any of the movies".

A Paramount spokesperson said the agreement came to an end in 2010.

Hustle and Flow, starring Terrence Howard as a drug dealer who embarks on a musical career, was a big hit at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to win an Oscar for best song.

"I'd always had a great relationship with Paramount, going back to being an intern on the lot when I was at USC," Singleton said.

"But a deal's a deal and they didn't honour the deal.

"I could have sold Hustle and Flow for more money to someone else, but Paramount promised something special - giving me the ability to make two low-budget films with young filmmakers and great talent.

"All I've ever done is make money for Paramount. I've lived up to all the deals I've signed and it should work both ways."

Singleton said he tried several times to pitch "a number of projects" to the studio but they were all rejected.

In a statement, Paramount said it had "fulfilled all of its obligations" and that Singleton's claims had "absolutely no merit."

Singleton is best known for his groundbreaking 1991 debut film Boyz N' the Hood, for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Since then he has directed Shaft (2000), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) and recent release Abduction, starring Taylor Lautner.
