The Game proposes to longtime girlfriend

Rapper The Game is engaged to his longtime girlfriend and reportedly said it's time for him to "throw his player card away" and be a family man.

The rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, surprised Tiffany Cambridge with the proposal on Wednesday, October 12, at the school where she teaches.

Even the principal at Frank D. Parent Elementary School in Inglewood, Calif. was in on the big surprise, calling Cambridge to an "afterschool meeting" where Game, friends and family members were waiting, according to MTV News.

The rapper reportedly got down on one knee and said, "I just wanted to ask you: Would you marry me?"

She immediately said yes and told the room full of people that she was in shock. Game, who has two kids with Cambridge, said it was time to settle down.

"It's been a long run, and we've been together at least seven years. We've been off, we've been on, we've been arguing, we fought. We had good times and bad times, and I think that at the end of the day, as a man, this is something that I owed to her and I owed to my family, so it was time," MTV News quoted him as saying.

Game said it only took four hours to plan the proposal.

The 31-year-old rapper rose to success with his 2005 debut album, "The Documentary," which earned him two Grammy Award nominations. His follow-up albums, 2006's "Doctor's Advocate" and 2008's "LAX" were equally successful. His most recent album, "R.E.D," debuted at No. 1 in August.

The rapper has also appeared in several movies including, "Street Kings" opposite Chris Evans and Keanu Reeves. He will next appear alongside "Clueless" actress Stacey Dash in "House Arrest," which is slated for release later this year.

Game recently was in the news over a Tweet sent from his Twitter account, which jammed a Compton Sheriff station's emergency line. The tweet asked for internship applicants and contained a phone number for the station. The rapper did not face charges over the incident.
