Robert Pattinson is busy promoting "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I" in Europe and was up to his usual tricks, joking that he might already be married to Kristen Stewart thanks to their on-screen wedding.
"The wedding scene's funny because we used a real priest," Pattinson joked during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday (see clip below). "So technically we are already married because he did all the things you would do in a normal ceremony. So we don't have a civil union in law, but I guess in the church we are actually married."
Stewart, 21, recently confirmed her years-long relationship with the British actor in an interview with British GQ magazine. Pattinson, 25, was joined by co-star Ashley Greene at the press conference and went on to discuss the upcoming film's awkward love scenes.
"The sex scenes were difficult," Pattinson said. "The set was crazy and you have about 20 people in the room and someone saying things like: 'No, Bella would not have made that noise. Can we do it again?' It was very charged, but a very tender and sentimental scene. It's not a scene from the book, so everyone was nervous about doing it right. A ton of other people were nervous. And, Kristen and I were both worried about the shape of our bodies would look on camera. We felt vulnerable."
The actor, who portrays vampire Edward Cullen said that he didn't understand his character's fear of sex. The best-selling series, which was written by Mormon author Stephenie Meyer, built sexual tension with what Time magazine once called "the erotics of abstinence." The "Twilight" love birds waited until marriage to consummate their love.
"[Bella] is the one who initiates the sex," the actor continued. "It's a different move and I like that it's not so predictable. Bella is already pushing for it in the movie and it's Edward that seems scared. I've never been able to relate to that fear of sex or sexuality. It's funny that all three movies portray sex as something scary and then, when they have sex in the fourth movie, they have a child with really rather devastating consequences. I'm not sure what they are trying to say... never have sex with anyone ever?"
The first official video clip from the highly anticipated film "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" recently surfaced and shows what appears to be Edward Cullen, carrying his new bride Bella Swan, played by Stewart, over the threshold as the two begin their honeymoon.
The movie is the first part of the fourth installment in the fantasy romance series, based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" depicts the wedding of Swan, a human, and Cullen, a vampire, and the consequences of their union.
The movie is set for release on November 18 and also stars other returning cast members such as Taylor Lautner, whose werewolf character, Jacob Black, remains jealous of the tragic couple, and Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone, who play Cullen's adopted siblings. Their parents are portrayed by Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser.
Rathbone told OnTheRedCarpet.com recently that Stewart rendered him and their other co-stars breathless as she walked down the aisle in Bella Swan's dress while filming the wedding of Swan and Cullen.
The actor also referenced another anticipated part of the movie, saying: "Yes, in the honeymoon scene, we get to finally see what we've all been waiting for - some boot-knockin."
The previous three movies, the first of which was released in 2008, have grossed more than 1.8 billion worldwide. The second part of "Breaking Dawn" is due to be released on Nov. 16, 2012.
