Los Angeles (CNN) -- Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was undergoing surgery Friday to amputate her right leg above the knee, her publicist said.
Doctors have been treating Gabor, 93, at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for a "very deep" lesion on her lower leg, according to spokesman John Blanchette.
A news conference was set for doctors to talk about the surgery once it is completed Friday afternoon, Blanchette said.
Gabor's only child, daughter Francesca Hilton, complained that doctors had been ordered not to talk to her. She said she would attend the news conference to hear what they tell reporters about her mother.
Hilton has maintained a strained relationship with Gabor's ninth and current husband of 23 years, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt.
