Steve Harvey's ex-wife bashes him on YouTube

Steve Harvey's ex-wife Mary Harvey recently bashed the actor and comedian in a series on YouTube videos and accused him of cheating on her while they were married.

The two wed in 1996 and divorced in 2005. They have a son together and children from previous relationships.

Steve Harvey has not responded publicly to her comments but his attorney said in a statement that some of Mary Harvey's remarks about her ex-husband were false and slanderous and that her behavior was devious and selfish.

In the videos, Mary Harvey said she once received a letter from a woman claiming to have been in a relationship with Steve Harvey as well as phone call from Marjorie Bridges, who wed the entertainer in 2007. Mary Harvey said the woman told her she rang the couple's private number to inquire about a job.

"What made me stay was that Steve was my second husband and in my opinion, he was going to be the second and last," Mary Harvey said. "I had totally committed to growing old with him. I think about how quickly he moved forward from me to Marjorie. That was disturbing. He just left."

She said she is speaking out after seeing her name referenced in an Essence magazine article about her ex-husband, who is known for his television series "The Steve Harvey Show" and for his books that offer relationship advice. Steve Harvey is quoted as saying on Oprah Winfrey's website in 2009 that if a man is going to cheat, it has nothing to do with their emotional attachment or their feelings toward their partner.

"The not having closure part was really devastating," Mary Harvey added. "He turned my son against me. Had me evicted from our house. Thrown out. All the businesses, all the money, the cars. He maneuvered, manipulated the courts."

In November 2007, Mary Harvey sued her ex-husband for breach of contract over their divorce. She claimed she was defrauded financially over child support payments and said he cheated on her and put her through mental and physical abuse. The case was dismissed the following month.

"We are appalled and aware of the videos and other fabricated documents, which were placed on the Internet over the weekend by the ex-wife of Mr. Steve Harvey, which contained false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous information about Mr. Harvey, his current wife and others," Harvey's attorney, Bobbie Edmonds, said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.

"We are saddened that the ex-wife has resorted to such devious and selfish behavior, with a reckless disregard for their minor son, her adult son and Mr. Harvey's other children," the statement said.

There are court orders in place prohibiting both Steve and Mary Harvey from discussing certain topics, Edmonds said, adding: "We are taking the necessary legal steps to rectify this matter to the full extent of the law and we will be seeking contempt and sanctions against her for such reprehensible and callous disregard for the court orders."
