Big Boi of OutKast arrested on drug charges in Miami

Rapper Big Boi, a member of the Grammy-winning duo OutKast, was arrested in Miami on Sunday for illegal possession of drugs including ecstasy, MDMA powder and Viagra pills, according to the Miami-Dade County Corrections website.

Big Boi, whose real name is Antwan Patton, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. MDMA is the main ingredient in ecstasy.The rapper was booked at 1:25 p.m. on $16,000 bond. OutKast, which includes rapper and singer Andre 3000, is an Atlanta-based group. The duo has won six Grammy Awards and has six platinum-plus albums. Their biggest release was in 2003 with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful album "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below," which sold over 11 million copies.

The group co-starred in a film called "Idlewild" in 2006. The film's soundtrack was the last collaborative album between Big Boi and Andre 3000. In 2007, Big Boi released his first solo album "Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty."
