Jennifer Hudson pulled a Marilyn Monroe move this week and sang "Happy Birthday" to President Barack Obama for his 50th birthday on August 4th.Her performance was part of a fundraising event in Chicago for Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, a day before the President's actual birthday. The former "American Idol" contestant also covered The Beatle's "Let It Be."
"I could not have a better early birthday present than spending tonight with all of you," Obama told the crowd. "It is true that I turn 50 tomorrow, which means that by the time I wake up, I will have an email from AARP, asking me to call President Obama and tell him to protect Medicare."
Obama had a second celebration the following day at the White House, where he invited friends and family to a reception in the Rose Garden.
According to Reuters, attendees included Jay-Z, comedian Chris Rock, Tom Hanks, Rev. Al Sharpton, Charles Barkley and Basketball player Grant Hill, as well as political figures like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Chair of the Federal Communications Commission Julius Genachowski and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
"Just left the Presidents birthday party at the White House. Herbie Hancock played, Stevie Wonder sang and yes they did the electric slide. A great night," Chris Rock tweeted late on Thursday evening.
