Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith respond to split rumors: 'We are still together'

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith released a joint statement on Tuesday about recent reports that said the two ended their 13-year marriage.

"Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false," the couple said in a joint statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com "We are still together, and our marriage is intact."

A report surfaced on InTouch Weekly's website on Tuesday claiming that the couple had separated.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith married in December 1997 and have two children together. Their 13-year-old son Jaden starred in the 2010 summer hit remake of "The Karate Kid" and daughter Willow, 10, is pursuing a music career. Will Smith has an 18-year-old son named Willard Christopher Smith III, nicknamed Trey, from a previous marriage to Sheree Zampino that ended in divorce in 1995.

Smith and Pinkett Smith met on the set of Will Smith's hit 90s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air." The two were last photographed together in late July while vacationing in Hawaii.

Several reports, including one by Us Weekly, cited an unnamed source close to the pair who denied InTouch Weekly's report of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's split.

The couple has spoken openly in the past about how dedicated they are to making their marriage work in order to avoid divorce.

"What I found is divorce just can't be an option," Will Smith told Ellen DeGeneres during a May 2008 appearance on "The Elen DeGeneres Show." "It's really that simple. And I think that's the problem with L.A. -- there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options."

Jada Pinkett Smith told UpTown magazine this past June, "People think that Will and I don't spend a lot of time together. Too much time, actually, if you ask me." She added, "It's always nice to have a little time apart. Sometimes you need that."

The actress currently stars on "HawthoRNe" alongside Marc Anthony, who announced his separation from Jennifer Lopez in July. The show kicked off its third season premiere on June 14.

Meanwhile Will Smith recently reprised his role as Agent J for the upcoming sequel "Men In Black 3." Smith has several movies in production and more than three dozen under development, including sequels to "Independence Day," "Hancock," "I, Robot" and "Bad Boys," and a prequel to his 2007 film, "I Am Legend."
