(PEOPLE.com) -- British actress Camilla Luddington's career got a royal boost this week when it was announced that she'll play Kate Middleton in Lifetime's upcoming royal wedding movie, "William & Kate."
So who is the chap playing her prince?
The on-screen Prince William is Nico Evers-Swindell, a newcomer to the scene who hails from New Zealand. His credits to date feature bit parts on "NCIS: Los Angeles" (he was Blond Russian #1), "Guiding Light" and "Law & Order."
The 30-something actor is also a New York transplant, who studied with The Upright Citizens Brigade, according to Famecrawler. He's also reportedly got a law degree and an actress fiancée.
And, of course -- hello -- he's certainly easy on the eyes.
In other royal movie casting news, British actor Richard Reid has landed the role of the prince's good friend "Ian," a character based on William's real-life bud, Guy Pelly.
What's more, Reid has got actual royal connections. The actor, 26, is the son of the Queen's treasurer, and it was those family ties that kept him from the role of William.
"It probably wasn't a role I'd be able to do at the end of the day," Reid told E! online of playing Prince William. "I think my dad would have stepped in and put the brakes on it ... I think my dad is happy and a lot more comfortable than he would have been if I had been playing William."
