Candy Spelling's $150 million mansion sold to UK heiress at a discount

Candy Spelling's 57,000-square foot Los Angeles mansion, the highest-priced home in the United States was officially sold to a 22-year-old Formula One heiress on Thursday.

The home, which was known as "The Manor," had a listing price of $150 million and has been on the market since 2009. The final purchase closed at a slightly more modest amount of $85 million, according to the Associated Press. See photos of the property.

The mansion has an estimated 123 rooms, including 14 bedrooms, several gift-wrapping rooms and a beauty salon. There are also 27 bathrooms, a bowling alley and a flower-cutting room. There is also room for more than 100 vehicles.

The owner is now Petra Ecclestone, the daughter of Formula One president and CEO Bernie Ecclestone. She is a fashion designer who launched the now defunct menswear label FORM in 2008. Petra and her sister Tamara were born to Ecclestone and Croatian model Slavica Radic, who is 28-years younger and 11.5 inches taller than the Formula One billionaire. The couple divorced in 2009.

Petra also owns a six-story home in London's Chelsea district, which was purchased for a reported $90.9 million. The heiress is engaged to businessman James Stunt and plans to split her time between London and Los Angeles leading up to their August wedding.

Petra wasn't the only heiress linked to the sale, Paris Hilton's father was involved with the deal and the Hilton heiress congratulated him on Twitter.

"Congrats to my Dad for selling Candy Spelling's Estate today which is the biggest sale ever done in California. Huge," Paris Hilton wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Candy Spelling, who owned the property had no immediate comment on the sale. In December 2010, she announced plans to downsize and sold a 15,555-square-foot condominium in Century City for $35 million.

Aaron Spelling, who died in 2006 at age 83, produced TV shows like "Mod Squad," "Charlie's Angels," "Dynasty," "Starsky and Hutch," "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place." His daughter Tori's appearance in "90210" launched her acting career.

Tori Spelling, who is pregnant with her third child, was in a car accident on June 13 while allegedly trying to get away from paparazzi. She currently stars in the reality series, "Tori and Dean: sTORIbook Weddings" with her husband Dean McDermott.

The Spellings bought the property in the 1980s and after tearing down the existing home, rebuilt the mansion in 1991. It was considered the largest residence in Los Angeles County by far, at the time.
