Pierce Brosnan plays a mega church preacher in 'Salvation Boulevard'

Pierce Brosnan takes on the role of a charismatic mega church preacher in "Salvation Boulevard," which opened in select theaters on July 15.

"Salvation Boulevard" follows three men, semi-religious Grateful Dead fan Carl Vanderveer (Greg Kinnear), Dan Day (Brosnan) and atheist professor Dr. Paul Blaylock (Ed Harris), whose decision to combine forces goes awry when Day accidentally shoots Blaylock and tries to blame it on Carl, who finds himself on the run from religious fundamentalists.

A group of characters get involved, including Carl's high-strung devout wife (Jennifer Connelly), free-spirited security guard Honey (Marisa Tomei), Day's henchman (Jim Gaffigan) and a Mexican blackmailer.

The satire, which is based on a novel by Larry Beinhart ("Wag the Dog") was produced by IFC Films and opened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Brosnan is best known for taking on the role of James Bond in "GoldenEye," "Die Another Day" and "Tomorrow Never Dies." The 58-year-old actor will next appear in "I Don't Know How She Does It" with Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Wilde and his "Salvation" co-star Kinnear.
