Christie Brinkley: 'I learnt in my divorce that marriage is ridiculous'

Christie Brinkley says she's learned a thing or two about herself and marriage in recent years.

The former model opened up in a new interview with The UK newspaper The Telegraph about her past marriages and how she realized she will never walk down the aisle ever again.

"I can now say unequivocally I would never get married again. There's absolutely no reason to. I learnt in my divorce that marriage is ridiculous," she told the newspaper when asked about her past marriages. "You take a vow but you don't get brownie points when you honor your vow and the other person doesn't."

"The court doesn't recognize that. It's like, 'All right now, let's see how we're going to divvy up the kids.' Well, obviously, the one that didn't break the vows should be the role model. But no," she added.

Brinkley has been married four times, to artist Jean-François Allaux, Billy Joel, real estate developer Richard Taubman and most recently to architect Peter Halsey Cook. Brinkley and Cook finalized their divorce in October 2008.

Her divorce with Cook made headlines when Cook admitted to having an affair with his an assistant, who was 18-years-old at the time, as well as having an online pornography habit, according to People.

"I have to be careful in husbands. Unfortunately, I trust everybody. I just think everybody is great," Brinkley told the newspaper.

She also admits she named her 1998 perfume, Believe, after her relationship with her third husband, Richard Taubman. The former model says she named the perfume Believe "because I still believed in love."

"I believe in true love and I believe in happy endings. And I believe. My perfume is called Believe," she added. "And then it was hubby number four."

If she had to name another perfume after her relationship with Cook, Brinkley said it would be called "Stinks."

Brinkley was set to make her debut this week in London's West End theater district in "Chicago" as Roxie Heart, a role she played on the Broadway stage earlier this year. However, according to Broadway.com, Brinkley was forced to postpone her gig because her mother was admitted to the hospital over the weekend to undergo emergency surgery.

Brinkley is one of many celebrities who have played Roxie in the hit musical including Brooke Shields, Marilu Henner, Ashlee Simpson, Michelle Williams and Melanie Griffith.

The 57-year-old made her acting debut in 1983 in "National Lampoon's Vacation" with Chevy Chase. She also appeared in its 1997 sequel, "Vegas Vacation."

She tells The Telegraph she hasn't given up on finding love completely. "You've gotta believe there are truly compassionate, kind, great people out there. Who also happen to be extremely funny," She said. "It's getting harder and I'm a little more wary but I look at my parents; they've been together for ever and are still madly in love."
